First Week of Sobriety Completed!
So, first week of sobriety completed! (after relapse in July). Feels very nice and I am already seeing on my watches that sleep quality is improved (and I sleep better).
Physical Improvements
Also, my activity level increased, because, you know, I don't have hangovers and can actually do some sports regularly... And I also, hmmm, already have a better anxiety management.
The absence of hangovers has been transformative. I wake up feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the day, rather than spending the first few hours recovering from the night before.
Celebrating Alcohol-Free
One of the best things: I've enjoyed my birthday without any alcohol and I even didn't miss it! But I ate a lot of cake ahahah and it was heavy for me too, but lighter than one beer...
This was a huge milestone for me. Birthdays used to be an automatic reason to drink, but this time I celebrated in a completely different way and found it just as enjoyable - if not more so.
Sleep Quality Improvements
The data from my smartwatch confirms what I'm feeling - my sleep quality has significantly improved. I'm getting deeper, more restorative sleep without alcohol disrupting my sleep cycles.
Mental Health Benefits
Better anxiety management has been an unexpected but welcome benefit. Without alcohol's mood swings and withdrawal effects, my baseline anxiety levels are much more stable.
Looking Ahead
After experiencing a relapse in July, getting back to this one-week milestone feels especially meaningful. I'm taking it one day at a time and focusing on the positive changes I'm already experiencing.
First week done - feeling great and ready for week two!
One week complete after July relapse! Key improvements: better sleep quality (confirmed by smartwatch data), increased physical activity without hangovers, improved anxiety management, and successfully enjoyed an alcohol-free birthday. Ready for the next week!
